Top 10 Simple Weight Loss Tricks

Almost everyone is trying to lose weight. There are simple ways to lose weight without going on a diet. Try them all out and comment below about which ones work best for you.

1. Eat from small plates or bowls

  • Tricks your brain into thinking that because you ate all you are full
  • People lose 1 1/2 lbs per month just from this alone!

2. Always sit at the table to eat (even snacks)

  • No eating while distracted (watching TV, driving, working, etc.)
  • Distracted eating leads to overeating, unhealthy eating, eating when not hungry
  • Makes eating less convenient (which is a GOOD thing)
  • Forces you to pay attention to what you’re eating

3. Drink water first when you feel hungry

  • Often we mistake thirst for hunger
  • Drinking water almost always shuts off the feeling of hunger
  • But, 20 minutes later if you are still hungry, then it really is hunger
  • Then when you eat you are less likely to eat and drink together – eating without drinking improves digestion

4. Stop eating before you are full

  • It takes 20 minutes for all the food to arrive in the stomach and the brain to know we are full
  • By then we often overate and feel yucky
  • Stop when you feel like you are getting kind of full

5. Put away pots and serving dishes before sitting to eat – don’t bring them to the table

  • Seeing the food, makes us want more
  • Only one helping per meal – no seconds
  • Now you have leftovers for a healthy lunch to take to work tomorrow 😉

6. Eat half of restaurant portions

  • Most restaurant portions are huge
  • When you order ask the server to only bring out half on the plate and the other half already boxed to go
  • This gets rid of the temptation to overeat

7. No late-night snacking

  • Get to bed earlier if necessary
  • Make dinner your last meal
  • No snacks after dinner

8. Eliminate or reduce salt

  • Salty foods lead to overeating
  • Causes water retention, hypertension, etc.
  • Substitute kelp granules for a way healthier alternative

9. Stay away from artificial sweeteners like Splenda, Equal and Sweet N Low

  • Been linked to weight gain, obesity and many diseases (some are neurotoxins)
  • Try Stevia instead (Truvia is in most grocery stores)

10. Keep healthy snacks handy not unhealthy ones

  • Fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds make great snacks and many of them are suitable for on the go; e.g. bananas, apples, oranges, raisins, nuts
  • Don’t buy unhealthy snacks or keep them handy or visible (if they are for the kids or hubby, put them away where the kids or hubby see them, not you!)
