Forget surgery, pills, counting calories and low carb diets. Here’s how the pros lose weight fast and keep it off for life: fasting. No, I don’t mean 40 days and 40 nights like Jesus. I just mean not eating for a short period of time – anytime from a couple hours to a day. That’s it.
First, you have to understand how your body burns fat and then this will all make sense. After you eat/drink your body uses the calories consumed to run all it’s functions. When it starts to burn through those calories, it signals you. You feel hungry, you eat and the body uses those new calories to keep running. But when you break that cycle and fast, your body runs out of calories to burn and has to tap into your fat reserves. This is how you burn fat.
An easy way to get your body burning fat every day is to skip breakfast and all the sugary coffees and teas. Let your body go till lunch (or at least a late breakfast) on just water and coffee or tea with no milk or sugar. If you want to take it even further, eat dinner a little earlier and skip the snacks between dinner and bedtime. That gives your body plenty of time to burn fat between dinner and brunch/lunch the next day.
While fasting, drink plenty of water. You will find that water takes away your feelings of hunger and makes fasting bearable. Eventually, when you become comfortable with fasting, you can extend it to doing a 24 hour fast once a week. I recommend doing it on an off day when you are relaxed and not stressed. You’d eat dinner the night before, have no snacks after dinner as usual and fast 24 hours till dinner the next evening.
Following this type of fasting, you can expect to lose 1 to 5 pounds per week.
